In theory, this theatre would strike a perfect mix of community cinema and a casual bar experience. Unfortunately, Fifth Ave misses the mark. After arriving 30 minutes early for a movie, we were told be the waitress (who had to be beckoned twice before coming) that they only had like 2 out of the scant 8 or so options on the menu available. This was sorely disappointing, as I couldn't eat the only filling option. The concession stand had nothing but mediocre popcorn and a poor selection of candy. Considering the price of drinks, food, and tickets, I would have expected not to have to sit through a movie hungry.

It is a great venue with a great selection of current mainstream motion pictures but also unique selection from the international scene. It also offers a bar and restaurant. The staff is always cordial and helpful. The multiplex is constituted of several smaller theatres. Maybe not always the best technology for 3d or latest gimmick but a good place. Conveniently located 2 blocks from 4th on Burrard with good public transit.

I will not be returning to this theatre unless it is the only one playing a good movie within driving distance.

Really great cinema option... low volume on the opening movie reviews... all movie options are for a more artistic crowd... or maybe older! great staff at the ticket counter, food venues, management.. good environment... nice wine bar option for the wait..

Since becoming a 19+ only theatre, this is now our first choice for seeing a film. The drink list is great with many options other than beer. The fact that there are no kids makes going to the cinema very enjoyable. All the people(family's and minors) who complain about this change.... Ha! See you never. There are heaps of other cinemas to go to in the city. We adults really deserve this one. Thank you.

May be one of the rare times I say this but I'm kind of glad that this place was purchased and renovated by a large company. The 19+ is a huge bonus which means it plays to adults and I believe they do assigned seating for all the screens which is great. Great films come through here so there's always something to see. They purchased space next door and turned it into a pretty nice bar setup where you can grab a drink and bring it into the theater (thanks!). Beer selection is dreadful, but hopefully that changes. I try to go to this theatre before Scotiabank and International Village.
