  I'm writing as a former employee of the downtown North Face store (managed by the same franchise as this one), who has now moved on to better things. As an employee here, you are told to do one thing and one thing only: SELL. It doesn't matter if customers specifically reject your help, are looking for a product you don't have, or simply don't want or need anything sold in store. You are to engage them, and manipulate them into spending money. In return you do not receive commission; you are given sales goals and receive a small bonus should you reach them. If you aren't so lucky, you are threatened.

  I went in to buy a ski jacket. The guy helping me find sizes and styles was extremely helpful. The manager, however, was unbelievably rude! I ended up not making my purchase just because she was so horrible. Would not return to this store based on that alone.

  The girl named Hilal was amazing, she did an excellent job of finding me the right jacket. Overall it was an amazing environment and experience at the TNF store. Cheers!!

  Don't bother ever shopping at the North Face store on 4th Avenue if you want lousy customer service! They were supposed to bring a jacket for me, never called me when it came in & when I called them they blamed me for giving them the wrong phone number & they refused to hold it longer than today! They're at fault & then the manager of the store hung up on me because I was angry! GREAT SERVICE! KEEP YOUR JACKET!

  On top of this, employees are all but entirely untrained. Since the turnaround rate is so high, this results in days that feel like total chaos and having to deal with many, many unhappy customers.

  They don't have a lot of the more technical gear at this store and the customer service is horrible. They need to stop hiring folks on working holiday visas who have no outdoor gear knowledge, and actually make an effort to train their staff in their products.
